You're young, so what?

Don't you hate it when people get onto you just because you're young? A lot of the time they think you aren't ready for things and are too immature. They're right, you are young. But that is actually a good thing. Why? Because no matter how young we are, God still has some awesome hidden purpose for us. Don't believe me? Check out this verse:

1 Timothy 4:12 (NIV)

Don't let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith and in purity.

Isn't that cool? It basically means that it doesn't matter your age, God can still use you. Set a good example in the way you talk, in your life, in how you love, and staying pure. What's even cooler is that GOD DOESN'T NEED US. Yep. That's right. He doesn't need me or you or any other adult. Think about it. I mean, He's God, right? He can do anything. He uses us because he loves us and wants us to know that.

Now doesn't that make you feel special? I do. Next time God tries to use you, don't say, "This is too big for me. I can't handle it. God can use someone else." Nothing is too big for you with God on your side. God can do anything.

You haven't by any chance read the book Do Hard Things, have you? It's all about that topic, and it's an awesome read.

P.S. I don't think you wanted that "a" in your blog title. =)

Ooh, good book. It's easy to take the second half of that verse for granted, but it's the 'setting the example' part that's the hardest.

No, I haven't read that book. I may do that though. Thanks for the suggestion. ^^ I fixed that typo. I hate those. O.o

Sometimes it is hard setting an example. Sometimes we don't want to be different because we don't want to be labeled as a loser or whatever else. It's always good to work on that!

That's great! I didn't know there was verse in the Bible like that! O.O I've gotten the "you're too young" thing, even as I grow older. Nowadays, no matter how old you are--if you're still in school, you're considered as someone who doesn't realize much--and that's SO not true! I needed to see that. Great post. =]
