Dragons

I have not posted in so long! I have been really busy this week. Life never seems to be smooth sailing, huh? I don't have anything to post today, so I decided to post about dragons. There are some rockin' fantasy titles about dragons like Dragons in our Midst and the Dragon Keeper series. But the real question is were they real? There is a verse in Job 41 that fits the description of a dragon:

"Can you catch Leviathan with a hook or put a noose around its jaw? Can you tie it with a rope through the nose or pierce its jaw with a spike? Will it beg you for mercy or implore you for pity? Will it agree to work for you, to be your slave for life? 5 Can you make it a pet like a bird, or give it to your little girls to play with? Will merchants try to buy it to sell it in their shops? Will its hide be hurt by spears or its head by a harpoon? If you lay a hand on it you will certainly remember the battle that follows. You won’t try that again! No, it is useless to try to capture it. The hunter who attempts it will be knocked down. And since no one dares to disturb it, who then can stand up to me? Who has given me anything that I need to pay back? Everything under heaven is mine.“I want to emphasize Leviathan’s limbs and its enormous strength and graceful form. Who can strip off its hide, and who can penetrate its double layer of armor? Who could pry open its jaws? For its teeth are terrible! Its scales are like rows of shields tightly sealed together. They are so close together that no air can get between them. Each scale sticks tight to the next. They interlock and cannot be penetrated.“When it sneezes, it flashes light! Its eyes are like the red of dawn. Lightning leaps from its mouth; flames of fire flash out. Smoke streams from its nostrils like steam from a pot heated over burning rushes. Its breath would kindle coals, for flames shoot from its mouth.“The tremendous strength in Leviathan’s neck strikes terror wherever it goes. Its flesh is hard and firm and cannot be penetrated. Its heart is hard as rock, hard as a millstone. When it rises, the mighty are afraid, gripped by terror. No sword can stop it, no spear, dart, or javelin. Iron is nothing but straw to that creature, and bronze is like rotten wood. Arrows cannot make it flee. Stones shot from a sling are like bits of grass. Clubs are like a blade of grass, and it laughs at the swish of javelins. Its belly is covered with scales as sharp as glass. It plows up the ground as it drags through the mud. “Leviathan makes the water boil with its commotion. It stirs the depths like a pot of ointment. The water glistens in its wake, making the sea look white. Nothing on earth is its equal, no other creature so fearless. Of all the creatures, it is the proudest. It is the king of beasts.”

The Bible calls this creature the Leviathan, but it reminds me of a dragon in a lot of ways. To me, what is says in the Bible is all the proof I need to know this creature was real. What do you guys and girls think this creature was? It sure does remind me of a dragon because it speaks of fire-breathing, scales, and a lot more dragon-like characteristics. It sure does make you think, doesn't it?

Thanks for reading and please comment!

God bless you!

"If that's not a dragon, I don't know what it is."- Professor Charles Hamilton.

Leviathan is mentioned a few times in the Bible. It's pretty much a sea serpent, though the translators were like, "no, it's a crocodile!" Puh-leez, a fire-breathing crocodile? That's like saying a chocolate-melting marshmellow!

Very interesting! I have read that passage before but I never put two and two together. I think it's a dragon, but then I don't know. Hmm...

I don't know what else it could be. I agree with Professor Charles Hamilton.

Wow, that's an awsome description. I can't think of anything else it could be but a dragon. It sure sounds very much like it!

Dragons! I absolutly love dragons! Of course, Prof. Hamilton can't be wrong! I've heard my pastor even say that there is a way shown biblicly that would allow for a dinosaur to breathe fire! Name of that dino: Dragon! (though there are a few other dinosaurs that it could be possible, dragon is just sort of the group discription :)

Dragons Rock!

Dragons sound really cool everywhere you hear about them, including the Bible....one thing that worries me, though. That description makes them sound evil...I hope no all of them! Maybe they will return one day...maybe they are in hiding (they are good at that, you know)...."The Rise of the Dragons". Oh! A book idea! I need to trademark that! If anyone copies it, I will hunt them down....:)

Go Hamilton!

Some dragons might have been good. Here's an example: Angels are supposed to be good, right? Well, when Lucifer (Satan) was cast out of heaven, so was his angelic followers. I think now they are called demons. Well, if some angels were evil and good, it could be the same with dragons, couldn't it?

you know...a couple of weeks ago i saw this thing on the discovery channel where a team of scientists we trying to locate some fossils in a frozen mountain thing...and they found a dragon...im not even kidding...they found a baby-ish dragon that couldnt breath fire but had been killed by a sword that was in the hand of a dead body right beside the drage...both were completely frozen...then they dug a little bit deeaper and by accident found the MOTHER dragon...with Carbonized cells in her mouth proving that she could indeed breath fire....i saw the frozen baby dragon...it is exactly what you would think it is...AMAZING...they did more research and discoverd the migrating patterns and they have decided that these two dragons most likely were the last two in that region and were killed around the end of the crusades...amzing right??

I think it would be totally awesome to find a dragon...it would be scary if it were still alive, though!
