The Candlestone

The Candlestone is the second installment in the series Dragons in our Midst by Bryan Davis. Bonnie Silver, the girl with genetic dragon wings from her mother whom was though to be dead, is paired up again with her father, a lab scientist that used treated Bonnie like a lab rat by taking viles of her blood for the healing photoreceptors in it for his scientific work.

Billy Bannister is struggling with trusting people ever since his father had lied to him about his dragon heritage for years. He is dismayed when Bonnie goes with her father when he says her mother is still alive and in the candlestone, a jewel that not only absorbs light, but it captures and holds encoded light, including transluminated human, people who have been translumintated into light energy by Excalibur.

Bonnie is sent into the candlestone, by the genius technology of super genius Ashley Stalworth, and she learns that many disembodied souls have fallen prey to the gem's power, but no has ever escaped. Bonnie believes, from what her father told her, that her mother is in the candlestone, but it is really her? Will she and Billy make it out of the Candlestone in one piece? Will Billy learn to fight with a sword and shield he cannot even see? Will Bonnie ever be able to forgive her father?

I highly recommend this book to everyone. It is pretty big, about 400 pages, but, boy, is it worth it! i loved it so much I read the book in four hours! Then, of course, I reread it to see if I missed anything, and even the little things in these books weave into a magnificent story with all the pieces! Of course, there is a lesson to be taught, there always is. This book reminded me we need to have faith in God to deliver us into safety. God is our Rock to lean on when we need him. It says in the Bible in Matthew 17:20:

"He replied, 'Because you have so little faith. I tell you the truth, if you have faith as small as a mustard see dd, you can say to this mountain, 'move from here to there' and it will move, nothing will be impossible for you."

Bonnie had faith in God to deliver her from the many dangers that lurked inside the candlestone. Billy soon found his faith and he was unstoppable with God on his side. God can do anything, and He will for us, and all we have to do is have on thing. Faith.

I really hope you guys get a chance to read this book. Thanks again for reading! Please comment!

God bless you!

Hey Sapphira! Not fair! You got two comments by authors! I like your reviews; they rock! How's the story coming?

Thank you for posting another review!

I think Bonnie's prayer in this book prompted more comments than any section in any book, with the possible exception of when Sapphira danced with Elohim. It was a joy to write.

Billy and Bonnie are resting after the action in Raising Dragons when the return of Bonnie’s father signals the beginning of a new adventure. Can Bonnie trust the man who betrayed her mother to the slayers? The amazing scientific process of translumination creates a vibrant world inside a light-absorbing gem known as the candlestone. Want to know more? Enter The Candlestone and explore a world of danger, mystery, and sacrifice.
I liked how this book emphasized faith, trust and truth. It contains a nice blend of emotions, humor and action.
